Deeyee Classroom-The difference between FCL and LCL
There are two major types of sea freight, LCL (bulk container transport) and FCL (full container transport). What is the difference between them, what is suitable for LCL and what is suitable for FCL?
Sea Freight-LCL
The full name of LCL is Less Than Container Load, which means that the seller does not have enough cargo to fill a full container, and Normally a 40ft container can hold 68-72 cubic meters, and a 20ft container can hold 35-40 cubic meters. When such a situation arises, the seller uses the shipping channel [Sea freight bulk parcel]. This kind of cargo is collected from different buyers and assembled together in a container. After a series of customs clearance activities at the buyer’s country port, the cargo is assigned to the delivery station for delivery.
Sea Freight-FCL
Full Container Load (FCL) means that the buyer buys a full container (40ft or 20ft) of cargo that is large enough to fill a full container by itself. This channel is used when a container can be filled by a single person or when a large quantity of goods is imported for commercial purposes. For such a full container of cargo, the carrier will load the container and crane it to the scheduled shipping date, and then unload it at the port for customs clearance, and then the carrier will pull the container to a location specified by the buyer for delivery to the buyer.
Why choose full container shipping instead of bulk container?
For FCL is whole container belongs to the buyer, so you don’t need to pool the container with other people to reduce the risk.
The reason why the statute of limitations of the sea freight container is shorter than the sea freight bulk container is that once the sea freight container arrives and is loaded, the carrier will be able to arrange the shipping schedule directly with the shipping company, while the bulk container needs to wait for other buyers’ goods to come up with a full container before the shipping schedule can be arranged with the shipping company.
Reduce the cost, the price of the whole container by sea must be cheaper and more cost-effective than you take the bulk container, so you can reduce the cost of the same time also increased profits.
